Bricks and Water
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Newham.
- Sunday, 2nd of June 2019
Another sunny Sunday, another sunny mission for Hilary and Graham. This time to help Mr P with his garden, which had become a bit overgrown with weeds and needed some bricks moving out to the front for collection. Mr P was keen to get some help as it'll give him some more space to have friends and family round and also plant some fruit trees (which seem to be doing well in Newham - we saw an orange tree looking good a few doors down). He's quite a keen gardener, but recently hasn't been able to bend down very easily due to ill health.
Hilary focused on weeding, whilst Graham tackled the pile of bricks, which kept getting bigger each time the weeding revealed more of them! It was warm work, but Mr P kept us watered and we had an interesting chat about the some of volunteering he's been doing in the community too. We managed to get rid of most of the weeds and bricks, although sadly ran out of time to tackle a pile of logs before we had to say our goodbyes and head off on our way.
