Bird bird bird, b-bird's the word
20 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Windsor and Maidenhead.
- Sunday, 28th of January 2024
- Led by Jess Smith
This weekend saw Goodgymmers from around the country take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.
Binoculars were donned and eagle-eyes scoured gardens, open spaces and patches of rushes for flocks of birds. Some had many visitors whilst others were hampered by their feline friends getting in on the action!
This is a list of the species spotted this weekend - it's amazing and shows the variety of garden birds we are lucky to have in the UK. The information the group has provided, along with the thousands of other who have taken part, is vital for the RSPB to understand the birds we have and if there are any areas of concern they can work on.
Blue Tits House Sparrows Robins Woodpigeons Crows Magpies Parakeets Feral Pigeons Red Kites Blackbirds Blackcaps Coal Tits Dunnocks Goldfinches Great Tits Doves Jackdaws Woodpeckers Starlings Chaffinches
The greatest volume of one species reported back was an impressive 18 Crows by Jo in Lambeth and Nicola was lucky enough to see 5 Red Kites in Maidenehad!
Thank you to everyone who took part and I hope you continue to look your for your feathery neighbours throughout the year. If you wanted to help them along Georgeta 's top tip is placing sunflower seed chips and fat balls out for them to feast on!
