Better Late than Never - to run the Last Ever St Davids Day Run in Cardiff!
2 GoodGymers made their way 10km in a race in Cardiff.
- Sunday, 16th of September 2018
- Led by Ellen
Two runners - Darren and Ellen - followed up on their pledge to run the St Davids Day Run, despite it having been postponed from March earlier this year due to the Beast from the East dumping snow in Wales' capital city. Apparently this will be the last ever St Davids Day Run (Ellen has heard on the social media grapevine), so it was even more important that we motivated ourselves to get off our Sunday butts, and do some running!
So we met up at Coopers Field in Bute Park while the 5k race was going on. First, we had to join the warm up - enthusiastically led by a British Military Fitness dude (which would certainly shake up our regular warm ups at GoodGym group runs!). Then we headed off to run a circuitous route through Bute Park. The rain had stopped and other than it being a bit muggy, the conditions were fine for a fastish 10k. No PBs, but both runners were glad to be a part of it. It was amazing to see the BMF guys and gals carrying a log throughout the entire race! Plus, Ellen is one race down on her goal of running 12 x 10ks this year - just two more to go, whoop whoop!
Thanks to Ben, Lucy and Welsh Dave for cheering us on - you were welcome faces throughout the race. x

Nice Ellen. Bring on 11 and 12!!
I think #11 will be the Richard Burton 10k in Neath/Port Talbot - hilly! Then #12 will be the MoRun so more fun and boy am I going to celebrate afterwards, moustache and all!
