"Be runnin' up that road! Be runnin' up that hill!"
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Sheffield.
- Thursday, 4th of January 2024
This was my first mission for GoodGym, and what a brilliant experience it was. I first went to the village area closest to Mrs P and put on my running shoes for the first time this year. The run to her house was only around 1.5km but inclined 119m. Safe to say, the extra mince pies from Christmas were soon getting burnt off. The run, although steep, was enjoyable, and the surrounding countryside was very picturesque. When I arrived at Mrs P's house, she seemed really pleased to see me and was, from then on, extremely chatty throughout. We shared lots of stories about the local area and our various travels around the world. I helped Mrs P with gardening tasks, including raking leaves so she could enjoy her garden safely, removing dead plants from their beds, and repotting roses. In addition, I helped dispose of cardboard that had been piling up for quite some time. Mrs P seemed really pleased with the result and enquired about how a GoodGymmer could help again. I really enjoyed the experience and got a lot out of it. It felt good to help someone who needed it, and the run back downhill was lots of fun, too.
