2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Brent.
- Saturday, 15th of October 2022
For the last mission of the day, Kash and Sevan found themselves almost under the giant arch of Wembley Stadium. They arrived at a difficult time for the beneficiary and thir family, but with the family's agreement, set to work on tidying the front and back gardens.
An assortment of tools was brought out from the garden shed. For the tasks of trimming hedges, bushes and trees, Kash and Sevan chose some shears, a lopper and a long handled electric hedge trimmer, plus a rake. After Kash's adventures with the petrol strimmer earlier in the day, he grabbed the electric hedge trimmer, leaving Kash with the manual shears.
Kash and Sevan both channeled their inner Edward Scissorhands and their childhood topiary lessons to shape the trees in the back garden into pleasing shapes. While Sevan had the most fun and efficient tool, it meant that he was the first to finish and also had the less glamourous task of raking the cuttings and putting them in Mr R's green bin.
With the back garden in better shape, Kash and Sevan headed to the front of the house. They set to work on flowerbed nearest the road as it had been overrun by brambles and blackberries. With only shears and lopper to help them, to protect their delicate hands they tried to chop the branches with their tools, then scoop with the shears. Once most of the bed was cleared, Kash moved on to weeding the path to the front door, focusing on making the house and front garden more presentable for any visitors.
At the end of the mission, Kash and Sevan said goodbye to Mr R's son and wished a good recover to Mr R. They then headed into the fading afternoon sun to find coffee to power their trip home.
