It was another Super Saturday for Harry: after two visits to revitalise his back garden it was time to tackle the front yard and make it clearer and free from trip hazards. No creepy crawlies were harmed during the mission

I'd had the pleasure of meeting the charismatic Harry a fortnight previously and making a massive start on his back garden. I also managed a peek at what Anja and Phil achieved in the interim week - great work both!

Always time for a brew

Harry was delighted to have support from GG and offered tea, coffee and biscuits from the start. It was self-service though!

It felt strange (or back-to-front!) to have a hot drink before starting any work but it was a pleasure to have a chat and learn about Harry's long and interesting life so far - to include his big family, 60-year marriage (WOW!) and impressive career achievements in painting and decorating. We also learned some trivia about Celtic lifting the European Cup in the 60s and a sgian-dubh (pronounced skeean doo).

Liz and I could easily have stayed all day but the front garden did need a makeover and we needed a green workout!

It must have been GLOVES, but it's over now

We made a rookie error of not bringing gloves - I normally have my own but they were past their sell-by date and rather pongy after 100s of deeds and lots of sweat! Gross.

Liz dashed off to buy a couple of pairs of gloves while I chatted a bit more and set up the music.

After such a long chat the hour of gardening was rather brisk and we filled a ma-hoosive bag full of weeds, twigs and many re-homed woodlice, snails and spiders. It was not for the faint-hearted or un-gloved!

Harry was as happy as Larry

We brightened up Harry's garden and his wee face! He was overjoyed with the transformation and thanked us for our time and company.

What time is it Mr Wolf?

LUNCHTIME - it was time to dash off on our separate ways to re-fuel. I said farewell to Harry and would see Liz at the next week's GoodGym Olympics
