Five of us met at Naburn Station (once Ellie G and Barbara had stopped running in the opposite direction!) to paint the Howden Bridge black and remove a ‘foam' panel (which seemed suspiciously more like corrugated cardboard) which had been stuck to the bridge.

Egg did a bit of path clearing whilst the rest of us chose our paintbrushes which ranged in size from not very big to really very small. Ellie G found her paintbrush to be completely stiff and of no use at all and put it back in the trolley we had used to transport our paint, etc along the cycle path to the bridge, then had to use a very small brush which she said would be good for the smaller bits.

Egg came to help us with the painting and promptly picked up the very stiff brush and tried to paint with it but confirmed that it took off more paint than it put on so it was put away again. The black paint was very thick and treacle-like and it took us over an hour to get the bridge panels painted.

Various dogs came and sniffed around to see what we were doing and unfortunately one little white terrier got painted!!!!

Annoyingly we ran out of paint with just one panel left to do. Before we took off our very fetching Tyvek suits, we wanted to see how many Ellies can fit in one suit - turns out the answer is two!
