Another task put to bed
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Thursday, 23rd of May 2019
Two runners answered a last minute call for help, to enable a local octogenarian to return to her, home from hospital.
Mrs A had suffered significant injuries following a fall at home and had needed to spend some time at The Royal Liverpool Hospital to aid her recovery.
Mrs A’s daughter, an only child, had been dividing her time between the hospital, to visit her mum, and a care home, where her 92 year old father, who is living with dementia, was being looked after.
When she received the call to say her mum would be home the following day, and was asked if a bed was ready for her mum, downstairs...she didn’t know what to do. There was a bed, but it was impossible for one person to manoeuvre it down the stairs.
Fortunately, hospital staff were aware of Goodgym Liverpool, and so the call went out for a couple of helping hands.
With a bit of furniture removal, some rearranging and bed dismantling, a space was created in the living room, and the bed relocated to a suitable position, downstairs.
Mrs A’s daughter was extremely grateful. It had been a worrying day for her, but now she felt relieved and could look forward to welcoming her mum back home.

Great job both!
Lovely report!
What an amazing pair you are for doing this. I had a tear in the eye reading the report. It is because of tasks like this that I joined Good Gym. Awesome!
