All The Trimmings!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust in Lewisham.
- Saturday, 13th of May 2023
- Led by Kim Parker
The Marsha Phoenix Trust is an amazing local charity which provides shelter and support to young women. The garden space is an important element to the guests’ everyday lives, and luckily Super Sue is the long-term gardener who helps wrangle the space with her expert knowledge, and wrangle GoodGym volunteers with her tea and biscuits.
Back from running and volunteering Hilly Fields Parkrun respectively, veterans Vic and Steve were joined by relative newcomer Joaquin to support Sue with some bluebell dead-heading, hedge trimming, weeding, moss scraping, lawn mowing and local cat stroking. (No photos - sorry! The website is buggy today)
As two hours approached, we sat with cups of tea to take a moment and see the difference we had made. The garden has been thriving in the sun and rain, and every compost bin was full to the brim by the time we said our goodbyes and headed off to enjoy the rest of our weekends.
