A Shopping Mission That Wasn't
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Sunday, 1st of November 2020
On a blustery day I went to visit lovely J, an 85 year old lady. She has memory challenges and so I called her before I went and she said she would have a list ready for me. When I turned up she didn't have a list but it seemed it was more important to just sit and chat with her. So socially distancing, I sat outside her front door and just chatted with her for about twenty minutes. Eventually, she went in to put a list together but after five minutes came back and said that she did not need any food. So, I chatted a bit more and eventually left. It seemed that it was important to go even if I didn't do any shopping for J. She said she was lonely and so just to have spoken to her for about half an hour was a great privilege and hopefully if she isn't getting much contact with people she will do as a result of my going round there.
