A rose between two thorns
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Sheffield.
- Saturday, 7th of October 2017
After enjoying our respective parkruns and some excellent brunch, Stuffed Suze and Slightly-hungover Stephen travelled to East Sheffield to help a local resident.
This was our second mission to visit Mr. W, who is no longer able to look after his garden due to his health. Having done a fairly big clearance job last time, it was nice to go back and do a general tidy up. Suze reminded herself how to operate the folding handled lawnmower and gave the grass a trim, while Steve made impressive use of a hoe to clear, weed and tidy the path and surrounding areas.
""Ive never learned how to use a hoe"" Suze ""Me neither"" Steve (after and hour of solid hoeing)
The weather was a fair bit nippier than our scorching first trip in August, but on the plus side we could see the camera screen well enough to take some photos this time! It was particularly nice to see that the rose we cut back severley last time had blossomed and was in beautiful bloom, which seemed to vindicate our ruthless approach.
Mr. W's family were once again very grateful for our efforts, and we headed home to carb load in preparation for York marathon tomorrow (Steve is running, Suze just loves carbs).
