It was great to have a full group of Goodgymers at today's task with Urban escape, an amazing allotment space in the South of Bristol. After an obligatory moan about the hills we had ran, walked (or in my case) crawled up, we had an introduction to Youth moves and a tour of the site.
There was plenty of stuff to get involved with and the group divided and conquer to get the work done in the beautiful sunshine. Toby and Anna were busy pulling weeds and clearing an area to be tarped (technical term), Roz was removing grass from the path so it wouldn't disappear and Mel, Jenny and I were clearing underneath the hut to make the space more user friendly.
A particular highlight was having to move plastic tubs weighing 26kg into newly discovered store cupboard, unearthing slow worms and keeping a watchful eye on our new friend Freddo the frog. After a couple of hours we were rewarded with strawberries and blackcurrants before parting ways with the exciting prospect of a huge decline to start our journeys home!
There is plenty more to be done with Urban escape so watch this space for more tasks listed over the coming weeks.
