A raker’s dozen

Bellingham Children’s Centre needed some help clearing the overgrown walkway to their front door. Oli arrived from a morning of parkrun tourism and exploring, and it was Linda’s first community mission!
Feeling bamboo-zled
There was certainly a lot to clear, but we got stuck in and soon found it a rather satisfying job to chop, lop and rake the bamboo and ivy back under control. Meanwhile Martin did a stellar job tackling the weeds outside the front gate. We saved the cut pieces of bamboo for the centre to use in their outdoor activities over the summer.
Ivy-lieve we can do this!
There was a fair bit of rubbish that had been hidden under the many layers of ivy to clear up, with key highlights including a pair of boxers and a tiny minion toy!
Thanks a minion
Although we didn’t have time to tackle the back garden too, Jo from the centre was really pleased with our efforts - we managed to clear twelve bin bags of green waste! We agreed to organise another community mission to deal with the back garden, and give the railings at the front a new lick of paint... See you again soon Bellingham Children’s Centre!
