A perfect little weekend bag?
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Westminster.
- Sunday, 3rd of March 2019
This afternoon I met the lovely Alice for a mission in Westminster for Mrs J. I was particularly happy to be heading to this part of London because my route there took me past a restaurant that I've been planning to visit for a while (the owner, Josef, yodels!) I love it when missions remind you of some cool randomness like this! 😊👍
Mrs J has an extensive wardrobe, and has recently found that it's started to take over her flat. As she's less mobile than she used to be, she asked if some runners could pop over and help to sort through some clothes. She'd had some other GoodGymmers over last year to help out with her garden and had thought them "lovely guys", so she was keen to use GoodGym's services again! 😊
After introducing ourselves to Mrs J, we all headed to Mrs J's spare room to start sorting through the clothes she had there. After assessing the first few garments, we quickly adopted a three pile system: clothes to sell, clothes to keep and clothes to give away. This rough categorisation seemed to work pretty well, and ultimately we ended up with four bags of clothes to give away (I'm pretty sure that the pile of clothes to keep wasn't bigger than this, but please don't quote me on this!)
As Mrs J was a little tired after an hour or so of sorting, we left it for the day and enjoyed some tea, biscuits, chat and the epically awesome Judge Judy ("Beauty fades, dumb is forever"!) My favourite part of the chat was when Mrs J showed us pictures of rather dishy looking young men, accompanied by some advice to "go for the kind ones" and not the "[expletive]" 😂
Refreshments finished, Alice and I made our goodbyes to Mrs J and took the bags of clothes to be donated to a local clothes bank. As per the usual distribution of work in my missions, I took photos while Alice operated the deposit contraption.
Great working with you Alice! Hopefully catch you on another one soon! :)
