On a Bright Saturday Afternoon three Fine Greenwich Goodgymmers convened to visit Mr L who needed a little help taming his garden. The dream team consisted of dinosaur loving Veteran mission runner Mridula, Northern powerhouse Vickie and wurzel in the city, newbie mission runner Brin

Mr L greeted us at the doorstep and after a brief introduction we got down to the task at hand. Mr L explained that his garden needed some attention and showed us around his toolshed.

Vickie and Mridula set about removing excess ivy from the trellis whilst Brin got to work with the mower. The three runners quickly and effectively set about transforming the back garden.

Armed with Secateurs, Mridula set about thinning the ivy. Down at ground level a friendly neighbourhood frog crept out of the long grass to oversee the work on the borders before shuffling off into the undergrowth.

The three runners couldn't help but feel that they were being watched. Looking over the fence into the next garden, there was a large plastic cow peering at us.

Meanwhile at the other end of the garden Brin was getting stuck in with the mower, trimming his way across the garden, not a care in the world. Wet grass, tall grass, the mower was deftly maneouvered through all obstacles.

Moving on from the lawn and trellis the three runners set about a general litter pick before swapping secateurs for trowels and tackling some of the border weeds. Mr L was careful to explain that he wanted his potato plants to remain in place, so we carefully removed some of the other weeds around the plants.

Mission accomplished. Looking back up the garden, the lawn looked pristine and the merciless onset of the ivy had been thoroughly halted. Mr L came out to thank us, as did his companion Sonic. Sonic didn’t say anything but gave a knowing feline nod. We had the seal of approval.

After putting away Mr L’s tools We bid farewell to Mr L and to Sonic and set about our return run/ride home in time for tea
