A Little Help for the Lovely Mr S
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Tuesday, 13th of April 2021
Heading through Tuesday, I was thinking I'd be consigning it to the 'slightly struggling' / 'little worse than average' pile that too many of my days are currently falling into. Even tea wasn't working its usual magic.
And so mid-afternoon and in my Microsoft Teams 'interval', I popped onto the GoodGym website and headed towards my favourite source of feel-good options, the Missions page. A quick 30 minutes later and the super-efficient team at GG HQ had confirmed that I'd be out and about helping the lovely Mr S that evening. I made a tea to celebrate.
Being fortunate enough to walk or run is a treat. I'm certain my mind would like a jumbled mesh of jumbledness without it. Well, more jumbled than it is anyway. And trundling South-West towards Sydenham and a twilight sun felt like a shower for the brain. Just me, other walkers and runners, and Evan Davis's dulcet PM tones in my ears.
Mr S is just lovely and having a quick natter over the phone to firm up what he needed, he popped a smile on my spirits. The essentials were all he was after and I picked them up from an intimidatingly big and empty Sainsbury's. Which made me imagine I was a contestant on Supermarket Sweep. Really shouldn't have pushed those nice people out the way.
Having taken a steady stroll over to Mr S's, we shared a few chattering smiles and bid each other goodnight. Which sent me on my way feeling that maybe Tuesday wasn't that bad after all.
Nice one.
