A Hardcore Morning
2 GoodGymers made their way to help the Brunswick Organic Nursery in York.

It was a very, very hot and muggy morning to be doing heavy work. Some of the nursery car park had been resurfaced and the staff wanted to reuse the old bits of car park surface as foundation for hardstanding for a marquee. Myself and Leanne shovelled a decent sized pile of rubble and lumps of old Tarmac into what I can only describe as a cross between a wheelbarrow and a mini JCB. Luckily we weren't expected to try and 'drive' it as it looked very difficult and you could easily run yourself over with it, so we left that to Dougie who was showing us what needed doing. We also filled two wheelbarrows in between whilst Dougie took his 'bionic barrow' down to where the hardcore was needed. At least Leanne and I were working in the shade, although you wouldn't know it from the amount of sweat we produced - you know it's hot when the sweat is dripping into your eyes! After about an hour we called it a day (before we completely melted) but we had made our way through about 3/4 of the pile, so we rewarded ourselves with some ice cream before biking home.
