Mission

A Haircut for Jasmine, Ivy and Fuschia

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.

On a very hot Sunday afternoon GoodGym runners Lucy and Sarah turned up at the home of Mr and Mrs L. Mr L is housebound, Mrs L is his carer and both are quite elderly. This means that although Mrs L is a keen gardener she can't manage the garden the way she used to. It had turned into a bit of a jungle, with the path completely obscured and tripping hazards aplenty.

However she had all of the tools needed for the task and plenty of garden waste bags, so under her instruction Sarah and Lucy got down to the task of giving the garden a good haircut - a short back and sides, if you will! Down came some very overgrown ivy, and the jasmine and fuchsia were chopped back. A passionflower out the front was also cut back to reveal a hand rail Mr L will need to use on his way to hospital tomorrow.

Mr L appeared downstairs, calling himself Frankenstein's Monster and demonstrating a great sense of humour despite his physical limitations. Both were a little sad Patrick was not with us though - our charismatic celebrity GoodGymmer made quite an impression the last time he was there!

In just over an hour and a quarter the haircut was complete, and the path and back fence were visible once more.
