A friend with seeds is no friend to weeds

It was the most exciting evening of the year (other than the jaegerbombs at bowling), it was finally time to sow the seeds at Hither Green station embankment. It's a project we've been involved with many times over the years but Project Wildflower Meadow 3.0 has been ours from the first piece of cardboard that was laid on the weeds.
Nothing is ever simple though and once we'd made our way to Springbank Community Garden, we needed to locate the missing sharp sand and our help was needed to move a massive rock! The sharp sand was never found/it had been used for another purpose so after a quick discussion with Anne-Marie who was 2 continents away, a back up plan was made, to use top soil instead.
We relocated all the rakes and a wheelbarrow with all the compost in and made our way round to the embankment (slightly later than planned). There was still time for a quick safety briefing, no going near the electricity lines and no heavy petting and then we split into 2 teams, one was raking and the other was pulling up the big weeds.
Sow far, sow good
It was soon time for seed sowing and we formed a line across the embankment and I ran up and down with the wheelbarrow whilst everyone uniformly took handfuls of seeds and sowed around them.
A quick reminder from Julian that we still needed to tread the seeds in and everyone quickly broke out into the seed sow shuffle.
We were running late and raced back to return the tools, lock up and head back to Glass Mill.
Fantastic work over the past couple of months!! It's been such a transformation and I'm sure it's going to look amazing in the summer.
