In a change to the original advertised session, tonight was an environmental Plan B.... aka a litter pick.
Judy was the first to request a pre-pick run, Angela requested 1 mile and Jen wanted over 1 mile so we ran a double backing loop round Foxes Forest to the west of Peronne Bridge. By the time we returned to get the pickers from the car, we'd covered 1.2 miles.
Wilson had her salvaged bag for life which was designated the recycling bag.
Once we started looking, we found plenty of litter (including recyclables) and started filling the bags. Sam and I were in the hedge and ended up covered in burrs, which still leave lots of itchy spines even when you think you're rid of them!
Interesting finds included a sock (bingo!), fishing wire and plastic gloves (5 times the fun...) plus all the usual suspects including plastic forks and polystyrene kebab containers. Tony and Jen tried to rescue a can from the low tide mud but were sadly defeated. That long reach litter picker definitely needs inventing!
After we'd loaded up the council bin and applied the anti bac gel, I shared out some fudge which had been the incentive for coming along tonight. We then heard about Wilson's fudge related business idea and then laughed way too much at the conversation that developed (if you know, you know!).
That seemed an appropriate (or more like inappropriate 😉) moment to all head off into the lovely sunset and back home.
