GoodGym runners embarked on a 1 mile sprint down Bute Street... Blink and you would've missed them!
What is the Butetown Mile?... It's a 1-mile run along Bute Street in Butetown, Cardiff. Affiliated to Welsh Athletics.
Runners from GoodGym took part in the annual Butetown Mile and what an event it was! Paul and Kirstin had already begun warming up by the time Ben and Lucy had arrived to collect their numbers. Mark, who has been on one GoodGym run before was also present (It was nice to see another recognisable face!)
Warmed up and adrenaline pumping throughout bodies we were ready to go! We all made out way to the starting line where other runners had already gathered. We all wished one another luck and with audience participation the countdown started 10... 9... skip a few ... 1 ... GO!
We all began running! A mile run is always daunting as running out too fast can mean you sacrifice your race and running out too slow can inevitably mean that you don't get the time you are capable of.
Less than 7 minutes later we had all finished! WOW! That was quick. Over a distance that short the seconds become even more meaningful...

Who's planning to run Butetown Mile again next year?... We certainly are!
