Our task this evening was to cut back hazards (AKA prickly things) from around the forest school pond, and anything overhanging the path.
While most of us were content with secateurs and loppers, Nikki jumped at the chance to use a saw to cut off a chunkier bit of tree and Mitch climbed at the chance to retrieve a plastic bag which was tangled high up in the branches.
Once the branches and brambles had been dragged over to the waste pile over at the allotments, we set to work on digging out the contents of two raised beds.
Vicky quickly found out that her fork was no match for some of the more stubborn roots, when a prong broke off with a ping. Not to be deterred, we doubled down with spades, shovels and loppers until all but one root remained. Well, we had to leave something for the Wednesday night crew to do...
