29 Runners ran to 6k from Somers Town to Somer-set House to help create a class room space

This week's run report was written by regular GoodGym runner Phil.;

I can barely see my laptop screen through the fog of dust that has collected around my head from this evening's; cleaning the bowels of Somerset House. But I will type, because we've all been shortlisted!

GoodGym is in the final twenty of a competition that has crossed Europe, judging hundreds of innovative social enterprises which work to give old people a better outlook. Tonight we were joined by a judge from Social Innovation in Ageing - The European Award to find out more about what we do.

Tied for the biggest Camden GoodGym ever, with twenty-eight runners (+1 meet us at Somerset House- new record whoop!) we ran 3km to Makerversity in Somerset House, which happens to be GoodGym's home! Makerversity provide affordable workspace for young people who make things, but as Shaun led us deep into the gloomy labyrinth of Somerset House, we saw that some of the spaces Makerversity want to move into are a little bit shabby.

That's where GoodGym come in! Carefully avoiding the hulking great lump of asbestos in the room (we'll leave that for Tower Hamlets GoodGym!), we scraped the walls clean of old, flaking paint, cleaned the floor, and began painting the windows, before it was time to race back to Somers Town Community Centre, and to try to shake off the accumulated dust and dirt we had brought down on our own heads.

Lets hope GoodGym triumphs in the Social Innovation in Ageing competition, and even more people get involved in running to do good.
