10:15 - 12:15The Tiny Forest tree survey, overseen by Earth Watch Europe, is taking place 12-20 October 2024. The nearest location for Stockport/Manchester is a site in Wilmslow that was planted in February 2023 and given the proximity to Wilmslow train station, I thought it would be a good chance to have a weekend trip to survey the Tiny Forest there.
I will bring some equipment such as tape measure, stopwatch, other bits and bobs. If you have gloves and any rulers/tape measures that would be helpful, and please bring a mobile phone too. I can't attach PDFs to Goodgym tasks so I will bring along some printed sheets for identifying trees, butterflies, etc that will take some part of the session.
There are regular trains from Manchester, passing through Stockport, so I was going to get the 09:38 Northern service from Manchester Piccadilly that passes through Levenshulme (09:44), Heaton Chapel (09:47), Stockport (09:52), Cheadle (09:56), and Handforth (10:00) before getting to Wilmslow for 10:03. It is then a short walk to the site. I aim to be at the site for 10:15.
For those driving/car pooling, the post code is SK9 1LZ and What3Words location for the Tiny Forest is: ///wakes.pepper.rocket. I think there is parking nearby in the train station or outside the school on the Saturday morning.
